Egyptian Explosion!

This has been another busy week in our Ancient Egypt topic.

We've explored how the Ancient Egyptians used the Nile and enjoyed finding out more about the treasures found in Tutankhamen's tomb.

We've also begun decorating our Egyptian masks now that the mod-roc is completely dry.

Watch out for the finish articles coming soon to the blog!

Sport Relief Fun Run / House Cross Country!

To finish another busy week on Friday afternoon Year 3 took part in the Sport Relief / House Cross Country run.

Everyone tried their best and finished the course.  They ran and cheered others on with equal enthusiasm.

Science Maths and Engineering Day

On Thursday Year 3 had a wonderful time exploring the world of science.  They designed and built moon landing buggies, practised computer programming with cups, ...

... designed bridges to carry a precious cargo of eggs,...

... created crazy creatures from card as part of this year's SetPoint challenge...

...and even had time to go into space before lunch!

Luckily were back on Earth just in time for the end of the day.

World Maths Day in Year 3

Year 3 had a fantastic Maths day last Wednesday. A highlight of which was going on a maths code-breaking hunt in the woods with Year 6.  Everyone worked brilliantly in their pairs and there was lots of excellent maths happening, with the Year 6s relying on the Year 3s to do the sums on more than one occasion!

Year 3 also had a great time writing and performing maths raps and songs in the afternoon as well as playing maths games online.

Brilliant Book Day!

Today Year 3 have had another busy day beginning with sharing their fantastic book character costumes with the rest of the school in assembly.

This was quickly followed by making peg dolls of the book character of their choice.  After playtime they got busy turning the classroom door into the book cover for 'The Firework Maker's Daughter'.  Then after lunch there was still time for writing a class book (to be published tomorrow) and listening to a story from Miss Goring.
